Position Details:

  • Title: Senior Materials Scientist
  • Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for this role will have 7+ experience testing polymeric materials or coatings in an industrial setting.
  • Schedule: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
  • Location: Gibbstown, NJ (08027)

 Essential Functions:

  • Work independently to design, carry out, and perform complex experiments and studies for research and development to support new product development
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and complex data evaluations.
  • Evaluate new commercially available technology for coatings applications.
  • Specify, qualify and install appropriate test equipment.
  • Provides results on properties and relationships of substances.
  • Identify and validate new targets through chemistry.
  • Present research results to technical and/or business stakeholders
  • Responsible for accuracy of all data.
  • May function as a technical lead on product development.
  • Mentor and train other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience testing polymeric materials or coatings.
  • Minimum 5 years’ industrial experience.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing and testing materials under GMP to meet FDA, EU MDR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Capable of performing tasks independently and efficiently.
  • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Skilled in developing analytical methods for polymer characterization and reaction evaluation.
  • Experienced in applying statistical analysis techniques.
  • Maintaining confidentiality with the utmost integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Proficiency in using analytical instruments and techniques for polymer characterization (e.g., DSC, TGA, Rheometry, FTIR, spectrophotometry, Instron, DMA, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of polymer structure-property relations.
  • Demonstrated experience with acrylic systems, suspension polymer systems, DLP 3D Printing resins, Injet coatings/ equipment and/ or UV/ EB curable systems.
  • Proficient in various polymerization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, physics, and rheology.
  • Experience in identifying, evaluating, specifying, procuring, setting up, and validating new materials testing equipment.
  • Ability to establish preventive maintenance and calibration programs, working with external equipment manufacturers, distributors, and service providers.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters, or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related field.
